StarcraftWire.net reports that NetEase, the Blizzard-appointed distributor of StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and WoW in China are holding a countdown for some game with graphics very similar to Blizzards.
Combined with Blizzard representatives in China engaging the Chinese fansite community in the last week, it seems likely to be a countdown for the Chinese StarCraft 2 beta. There's currently no official information when the Beta might start in the West.

15 Games That Won't Slip to 2010
"We recently listed 21 games that were expected to be released in 2009 that look like slipping into 2010, did you catch it? If so you're possibly wondering about other big games coming out in 2009 and whether they too will be shafted into the next decade. Perhaps we can relax those fears for you: here are games that you may fear will slip, but that are actually a good bet to make their 2009 targets?"from gameplayer

OXCGN's Pre-E3 Thoughts: The Secrets Of Keeping A Game Franchise Alive
OXCGN:
"Well, it's that time of year again. E3'09 is getting ready to unveil what the gaming landscape will look like for another year, and with it shaping up to be bigger than ever, I started to notice something. Almost every game I'm looking forward to seeing in E3'09 is a sequel.
Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Bioshock 2, Assassin's Creed 2, it's just getting crazy. Of course if a game is awesome you'd definitely want a sequel for more of what made that game great, which is why I hate articles that rant on about why sequels are evil.
However, it begs the question: how does a developer keep their series alive and successful?"

Twiggy Game: Will Videogaming's Future Look Like Boardgaming's Past?
Twiggy Game: Will Videogaming's Future Look Like Boardgaming's Past?
Greg Costikyan @ Gamasutra: "Twiggy Game was published in 1967. If you don't know who Twiggy was, she was a extremely famous model in the 1960s, remarkable for both slenderness and flat-chestedness, representative of the Mod look, and occasional participant in Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.
For what godforsaken reason am I discussing Twiggy Game today? To make a point: the danger of lack of culture.
What do I mean by "lack of culture?" Just this: with novels, cinema, music and every other form of art, we have long-standing traditions of criticism, analysis, reviews, and discussion. People know something of the history of the forms in which they are interested, something of the process of creation, and over time develop individual aesthetics, ideas by which they judge the merits, or lack thereof, of a particular product."

1Up & Kotaku Confirm Next PSP Story, 1 Week Later
PlayStation LifeStyle writes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Kotaku and 1Up seemed to have recently received the memo we sent out last week about the next PSP, tentatively named "PSP Go". The funny thing is, neither site bothered to cite sources for their information, though Kotaku claims they were tipped off by "PJ and Mr. Wednesday". Evidently Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard had the day off."
