Japan introduces the 'Ambassadors of Cute'
In order to capitalize on our love of video games and anime, Japan has appointed these three ladies (girls?) as the country's official 'Ambassadors of Cute'. Their mission is to exploit the popularity of the 'cute' culture by influencing young people and spreading Japanese culture around the world. The cuteness comes in three varieties: schoolgirl, gothic lolita, and... some kind of J-pop 80's thing.
The Foreign Ministry cited the popularity of Japan-produced video games and manga as evidence that the Japanese culture is strong worldwide -- Japan now just wants to promote it.
