Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Hands-On: Unimpressive Remake
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a DS remake of the first game of the franchise. It's a straightforward turn-based tactical roleplaying game.
The game introduces Marth, prince of Altea, who flees his kingdom from the opposing Gra army. He's sent to Talys where he will gather a force to reclaim his kingdom some day.
FE doesn't have anything different from many DS tactical RPG titles. My beef with the game is that it places characters in a predetermined spot at the start of every chapter/match. It also randomly allocates additional stat points when a unit levels up. Players should be able to decide where they want to place their units and/or determine what stats their characters should excel in. The gameplay is simple: select a unit, move him/her to a space, wait or commit an action.
